Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this session, participants should be better able to:
- Describe basic concepts from the field of disability and present opportunities in resource-oriented models in contrast to deficit-focused approach to movement disorders
- Discuss the approach to disability in pediatric movement disorders and explore ways of translating this knowledge to adult patients
- Describe the impact of cultural narratives on perception of disability and discuss psychosocial issues including, intimacy, social support, stigma, and caregiver stress
