This session will provide a clinical overview of hyperkinetic movement disorders with an emphasis on newly described phenomenology, disease, or syndromes. The current understanding of the mechanism and pathophysiology of hyperkinetic movement disorders and recent advances in management strategies will be highlighted.


Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this session, participants should be better able to:

  1. Perform a clinical diagnostic approach to hyperkinetic movement disorders (including recognition of more recently described conditions).
  2. Review current concepts of the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying hyperkinetic movement disorders.
  3. Manage hyperkinetic movement disorders using the available evidence and recommendations.
