Complex Ataxias: A Practical Approach in the Clinic

In this session, the faculty will discuss additional clinical features that may be present in complex ataxias, clinical “red flags” that point to particular diagnoses, the ancillary tests that are needed, broadly or depending on the suspected cause specific clinical cases that demonstrate a hierarchical diagnostic approach.

At the conclusion of this session, participants should be better able to:

  1. Identify clinical features that accompany complex ataxias
  2. Order the relevant ancillary examinations, including, if indicated, genetic testing
  3. Organize the differential diagnosis of complex ataxias, taking into account clinical and ancillary test features
